Geography of England

England is situated in the northwestern side of Europe and it is also acclaimed to be the most populated and important country of the United Kingdom of Great Britain. The country comprises a population of 58 million people. The total area of the land mass of England is around 130,422 square kilometers. England's comprises of a strategic geographical location as it shares boundaries with Wales and Scotland. Wales falls on its western sides and Scotland on its northern side. Apart from sharing boundaries with these two important countries England also get the benefits of few important water bodies like the Atlantic Ocean, North Sea, English Channel and the Irish Sea.

Due to its huge land mass and strategic importance England accounts to have the major portions of Great Britain and houses about eighty percent of its population. There are many other important features which make England one of the most acclaimed countries of Europe. England has been connected to the mainland of Europe with the help of Channel Tunnel.



The northern parts of England are undulating in nature having low mountains all over the area. The western and the eastern sides of England are divided by the Pennines. The minimum and maximum temperatures of England lie in between minus five degree centigrade to thirty degree centigrade respectively. England also faces sufficient rainfall that takes place throughout the year. The rain occurs because of the influence of the southwest prevailing winds that blows from the Atlantic Ocean. The southern parts of England are considered to be the warmest and the eastern sides the driest. Water bodies play important role in England and the country has been blessed with variant of rivers, some of them are Ribble, Thames, Trent, Dee, Avon, Ouse and many more.

Thus England has been blessed with several beneficent geographical features that have made England one of the most important countries in Europe.
