England is one of the most important countries in Great Britain and accounts for a rich and glorious history. Archaeological evidences revealed the fact that around seven hundred thousands years back a particular stage of human evolution the Homo erectus settled in the area of the present day England. At this particular time the geographical feature of England was also very much different that what it is now. The most important English Channel during the time of the Homo erectus was merely a river. The area was sparsely populated but along with the advent of time and invasions the area gradually became densely populated. With the gradual civilization development of England it became the main target of invasion and at the time of 43 AD the first invasion of the Roman Empire took place in England.

The Anglo-Saxon period in the English History marks an important role; the Anglo-Saxon period is considered to be the early stage of medieval history of England. The historical phase from the seventh to roughly tenth centuries is considered to be the development of Christianity in England. Christianity in England was mainly established by the Roman Empire. With the advent of the Roman Empire in England several other kingdoms and dynasties were established. It should be kept in mind that the kingdom of England consists of the Kingdom of Wales.
In the history of England the conquests of Norman play a significant role. This particular conquest was held by the conqueror William in the year 1066. The conquest of Norman had many deep impacts on England; firstly the conquest made a close tie up between England and the European continent and secondly a huge transformation of England's culture was led to happen because of the conquest. This cultural transformation covered several aspects of England. During the later Middle Age in England the Roman Catholic Church had supremacy but with the advent of renaissance and reformation the supremacy of the Roman Catholic Church was curtailed down. Instead of Roman Catholicism the Supremacy of the Royal family was established. However, the last phase of England's history was introduced with the civil wars that took place in England. The civil wars were the main front of confrontations between the parliamentary form of government and the supremacy of the Royals.
However, presently England stands in a glorious position in the world context with such vital historical legacy.
